From Dissonant, Dissociative, Disembodiment to Embodied Coherence

A dissonant experience involves a clash or lack of harmony between various events, behaviors, feelings, thoughts, or perceptions, often resulting in uncomfortable anxiety, fearful rumination, difficult sensations, compulsive behaviors, and unexplained physical tension or pain.

These dissonant experiences can arise from unprocessed, stored trauma-related stress responses that get activated (or triggered) in the body.

Such experiences are often challenging to self-regulate and can lead to complications like inflammatory responses, chronic pain, deterioration of mental health, addiction, burnout, and challenging relationship dynamics, among other difficulties.

Embodying Coherence is the process of exploring these dissonant experiences, developing practices to cultivate awareness of their psychosomatic nature, and gradually integrating these experiences into our conscious capacity for self-regulation.

With practice and guidance, our ability to self-regulate improves, and our nervous systems become more attuned and compassionate toward ourselves and others, allowing us to embrace life more joyfully.
